Job summary

The Master I&C Technician at NRG Energy performs operation and maintenance of the power plant and related systems, following established procedures with minimal supervision. You will monitor equipment, run tests, and support start-up and shut-down activities while aiming for safe, efficient operations.

Applicants should have experience in power plant operations, instrumentation and control systems, and a commitment to safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in a dynamic plant

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and ability to understand procedures.
• Minimum of two years of experience in Power Plant Operations and Maintenance.
• Experience with mechanical, electrical and instrument systems.
• Knowledge of combustion/steam turbine operations and plant safety is highly desirable.
• Experience with piping and instrument schematics and process controls desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist in start-up, shut-down and normal operations of power plant systems.
• Operate major auxiliary equipment such as air compressors, gas compressors, chillers and cooling systems.
• Perform operating tests and inspections, and make repairs and adjustments to equipment to achieve proper operating conditions.
• Prepares and oversees LOTO packages.
