Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a seasoned leader to manage the Instrumentation & Control (I&C) team for ground systems. You will guide installation, testing, and troubleshooting of critical ground assets, while ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery across sites.

As a frontline leader, you will mentor technicians, conduct performance reviews, and participate in hiring and onboarding to grow a high-performing team in a challenging aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in mission/flight operations or launch/test operations.
• 3+ years frontline leadership directing technicians or operators.
• Experience with complex or hazardous systems (e.g., cryogenic, pneumatic, hydraulic, high pressure, high voltage).
• Ability to read and follow technical documentation (procedures, drawings, schematics).
• Willingness to work nonstandard hours and travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Lead technicians in instrumentation and control build, installation, test and troubleshoot with safety, quality, and schedule focus.
• Plan, assign, and monitor work (shift coverage, overtime, backup coverage).
• Ensure work per approved procedures, work instructions, drawings, and safety/quality requirements.
• Provide hands-on technical support for integration, checkout, test, and operations of ground systems as needed.
• Conduct regular performance check-ins, annual and mid-year reviews; coach, develop, and mentor team members.
• Lead team growth through interviewing, onboarding, training, and recognition.
• Review and sign timecards.
• Communicate work status, issues, and risks to leadership and partner teams.
• Support workforce planning, budget inputs, and resource forecasting for the I&C technician team.
• Drive a strong safety culture; identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and implement continuous improvements to increase safety, quality, efficiency.
• Maintain clean, organized, compliant work areas (5S, “clean as you go,” tool/FOD control).
