Job summary

Alva Energy is seeking a Senior Hardware Engineer, Instrumentation & Control to lead design, integration, testing, and commissioning of instrumentation and control systems for nuclear uprate programs in the U.S. You will work across hardware, software, mechanical, test, and operations teams to create reliable control architectures and data acquisition solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline is required.
• 5+ years of instrumentation and controls engineering experience.
• Minimum 3 years supporting power generation, nuclear, industrial processes, or highly regulated facilities.
• Experience designing instrumentation hardware and integrating systems.
• Experience with PLC and/or DCS programming platforms.
• Ability to develop software requirements, specifications, and controlled documentation.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and vendor facilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop instrumentation and control system architectures from concept through deployment.
• Specify sensors, transmitters, data acquisition, controllers, and field instrumentation.
• Develop hardware requirements, interface specs, and technical documentation.
• Support integration of control systems into operating plant environments.
• Configure and modify control software and HMI applications.
• Develop PLC/DCS logic using Ovation, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or equivalent platforms.
• Implement alarms, interlocks, monitoring, and protection functions.
• Support validation, commissioning, and field deployment activities.
• Lead hardware bring-up, testing, debugging, and root-cause investigations.
• Develop automated test and calibration tools using Python, C/C++, or equivalent.
