Job summary

Redtree Engineering is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to lead design and development of control systems for distributed generation and district energy facilities. The role emphasizes independent design ownership, with oversight of junior engineers and direct client interaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 6–8 years of relevant engineering experience; EPC project experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation and control system design principles, practices, and standards (ISA, ANSI, IEEE).
• Experience developing or reviewing P&IDs, loop diagrams, and instrument data sheets.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation selection and specification.
• Willingness to travel to project/construction sites (20% estimated).

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of control system architecture, I/O lists, control narratives, logic diagrams, and cause-and-effect diagrams for DCS and/or PLC systems.
• Develops instrumentation design deliverables, including instrument lists, data sheets, specifications, installation details, and location plans.
• Develop wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, and interconnection drawings.
• Coordinate development of P&IDs with process and mechanical teams.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and FAT/SAT.
• Serve as client point of contact on defined I&C scope.
