Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer-Hydropower Gates and Locks Specialist in a hybrid environment. The role focuses on leading, designing, and managing hydropower projects including gates, valves, actuation, and dam safety assessments.

The role requires extensive experience in mechanical or systems engineering for locks and dams, a PE license, and strong analytical capabilities. Travel and client-facing responsibilities are expected as part of project execution.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering and 11 years of related work experience.
• Active engineering registration or licensure to support engineer of record (EOR) requirements.
• Preferred: 25+ years of mechanical or systems engineering experience related to locks, dams or water conveyance.
• Experience in finite element analysis (FEA).

Responsibilities

• Continues developing knowledge and may provide guidance on design guides, standards, and engineering codes.
• Prepares specifications and drawings for complex engineering deliverables.
• Performs complex research leading to recommendations for poten­tial solutions and evaluates condition data for engineering work.
• Manages assigned budget, schedule, and quality requirements; oversees task delegation.
• Identifies client interests and supports business development activities.
• Provides consultation and guidance to project teams as a technical specialist.
