Job summary

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality is seeking a Hydrologist to join the Water Availability Division.

You will perform complex reviews of surface water rights, use WRAP/WAMs, and analyze GIS data with ArcGIS Pro, while mentoring staff and communicating with stakeholders.

This is a full-time position with standard hours and excellent benefits. Applicants must have a relevant degree and several years of hydrologic experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor7s degree in hydrology, engineering, geology, mathematics, or natural or physical science plus four years of hydrologic work
• Master7s degree in hydrology, engineering, geology, mathematics, or natural or physical science plus three years of experience
• Doctorate in hydrology, engineering, geology, mathematics, or natural or physical science plus two years of experience

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced reviews of Texas surface water rights using statutes, rules, policies and hydrologic principles
• Use Water Availability Models (WAMs) and review WRAP/WAM contract deliverables
• Utilize Excel7s advanced features to review complex water right accounting plans
• Provide technical support and communicate with staff, stakeholders and the public
• Mentor and/or train less experienced staff
• Develop and manage GIS data with ArcGIS Pro for water rights and WAM maintenance
