Job summary
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality seeks an experienced Hydrologist to support the Rio Grande Watermaster Program, monitor streamflow and reservoir levels, and manage water rights in the Rio Grande basin.
As part of the Water Availability Division, you will perform complex analyses, use advanced models and Excel, and contribute to international water treaties and compacts with strong communication and public engagement responsibilities.
Qualifications
- Experience performing complex surface water hydrological analysis.
- Experience with RiverWare.
- Experience with Texas water rights framework and Amistad/Falcon systems.
- Experience using WAMS and surface water simulation models.
Responsibilities
- Lead and/or conduct advanced senior-level hydrological analyses for the Rio Grande Watermaster Program.
- Present technical or regulatory information to agencies, stakeholders, the public, and agency staff.
- Support international water treaties using hydrologic modeling and statistics to identify data issues and trends.
- Prepare annual water deliveries accounting for the State of Texas.
