Job summary

Heven AeroTech seeks a Hydrogen System Design Engineer to own design updates for hydrogen generation, storage, and fueling systems. You will lead mechanical and process design for future concepts, collaborating with assembly, test, and electronics teams to ensure safe, reliable, and production-ready solutions.

You will develop P&IDs, 3D CAD models, GD&T drawings, and manage design revisions, while applying ASME B31.3, NFPA 2, CGA guidelines, and OSHA 1910.103.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline and hands-on engineering experience.
• 10+ years of direct design/process engineering experience.
• Design experience with pressurized gas/fluid systems (hydrogen/industrial gas/cryo) preferred.
• Experience selecting high-pressure components (valves/regulators/relief devices/vessels/fittings).
• Experience reading engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specs.
• Knowledge of ASME B31.2/B31.3, CGA guidelines, or similar.
• Strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on with hardware in lab/production.
• Disciplined documentation to produce technical reports and data packages.
• Safety-first mindset around hydrogen and high-pressure systems.
• Clear communicator with ability to write reports and findings.
• Collaborative across engineering, production, and quality functions.
• Willingness to travel for commissioning/site testing.

Responsibilities

• Lead design updates to hydrogen generation, storage, and fueling systems; improve reliability and manufacturability.
• Design future concepts from concept to detailed design, tolerancing, and release.
• Select and size high-pressure components for hydrogen service.
• Develop and maintain P&IDs, 3D CAD models, and GD&T drawings; manage ECN changes.
• Ensure designs are buildable and resolve assembly feedback.
• Define test criteria; support troubleshooting and feed data back into design changes.
• Coordinate with electronics on sensors, interlocks, and control logic.
• Apply codes and standards; support HA/HAZOP analyses for new/revised designs.
• Produce and maintain engineering documents for manufacturing scale-up.
• Evaluate design alternatives with cost/manufacturability trade-offs; emphasize safety/code compliance.
• Support proposals and government programs with drawings, performance data, and design descriptions.
