Job summary

Heven AeroTech in Winchester, VA, seeks an Electronics & Programming Engineer to own controls and electronics for hydrogen generation and fueling products. You will design and program PLC/HMI logic, integrate sensors, and lay out electrical architecture inside rugged enclosures.

Collaborate with mechanical, test, and hydrogen teams to validate safety-critical logic, support field deployments, and maintain BOMs and wiring diagrams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3–6+ years in industrial controls, electronics, or embedded systems.
• Hands-on experience programming PLCs (ladder/structured text) and developing HMI applications.
• Strong understanding of AC/DC power distribution, protection, and safety circuits.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and electrical diagrams.
• Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, UL, CE where applicable.
• Great troubleshooting skills in lab/production environments.
• Strong documentation habits for wiring diagrams and BOMs.

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and commission PLC and HMI logic for hydrogen generation, storage, and dispensing subsystems.
• Develop electrical schematics and enclosure layouts, including power distribution and signal wiring.
• Integrate sensors and actuators with conditioning, protection, and safety systems.
• Design and validate safety-critical logic (E-stop, interlocks, safety relays).
• Collaborate with mechanical design to co-develop enclosure layouts and routing.
• Define electrical test procedures and support environmental/integration testing.
• Assist integration of fuel cells and balance-of-plant equipment into controls architecture.
• Provide root-cause analysis and support field deployment and troubleshooting.
• Maintain BOMs, wiring diagrams, and design records; support supplier decisions.
