Job summary

Heven AeroTech in Winchester, VA is seeking a Hydrogen Test Engineer to verify that our hydrogen production systems—electrolyzers, compression, storage, and fueling equipment—perform to specification before shipment and after field installation.

You will design, execute FAT and SAT, instrument test setups with DAQ hardware, and collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to troubleshoot failures and drive corrective action across our hydrogen power systems for UAS applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering,Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline or equivalent hands-on test engineering experience.
• 3–6+ years of experience testing electromechanical, fluid, or power systems with formal test procedures (FAT/SAT).
• Hands-on experience with electronic loads, power supplies, and DAQ systems for data capture and analysis.
• Experience with high-pressure gas or fluid systems (300+ bar) including pressure testing and leak detection.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, P&IDs, and test specifications.
• Familiarity with codes and standards (ASME B31.2/B31.3, CGA).
• Strong troubleshooting and hands-on hardware experience in lab/production environments.
• Excellent test reporting and data package creation skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and execute FAT and SAT procedures for hydrogen production systems (electrolyzers, compressors, storage, fueling).
• Maintain test setups using DAQ hardware and sensors to characterize performance and safety margins.
• Execute performance, endurance, and environmental tests and report results against specs and acceptance criteria.
• Perform leak checks and pressure testing on high-pressure hydrogen systems before delivery and installation.
• Support on-site SAT activities, coordinating logistics, safety, and troubleshooting.
• Troubleshoot failures and drive corrective actions with engineering teams.
• Maintain and calibrate test equipment and assist with new test fixtures as products expand.
• Support hazard analyses (HAZOP, FMEA) and ensure compliance with NFPA 2, ASME, CGA.
