Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Maintenance Technician, HVACR IV for our Madison, WI facility in the Cancer Diagnostics Division. You will keep HVACR and related systems running for labs and controlled environments, performing installation, service, repair, and troubleshooting of large commercial HVAC systems and multi-zone racks with direct digital controls.

The role requires 7+ years in HVACR, EPA-608 certification, and the ability to work in a regulated healthcare/diagnostics environment; on-site work

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in HVACR, mechanical maintenance, or related field; or a high school diploma/GED with completion of a formal HVACR apprenticeship in lieu of degree.
• 7+ years of experience in commercial, industrial, healthcare, or similar HVACR role.
• 5+ years experience with packaged equipment up to 100 tons, troubleshooting VAV and CRAC systems.
• 5+ years experience with facility software tools including BAS, CMMS, CAFM, and environmental monitoring.
• Valid EPA-608 Universal Refrigeration certification at time of hire and maintained throughout employment.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, operate, and repair HVAC, refrigeration, and boiler systems; perform preventive maintenance and diagnostics.
• Review drawings, schematics, and MEP plans; lead installations requiring control programming and building automation links.
• Respond to service calls, alarms, and outages; participate in 24-hour on-call operations.
• Monitor electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems; coordinate with contractors and landlords; conduct building inspections and ensure EHS compliance.
• Document GMP-related activities; follow SOPs and maintain GMP/OSHA/FDA/WDATCP/USDA standards; train technicians.
