Job summary

Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) is seeking an HVAC Technician II to perform skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and related systems at CATS facilities, stations, and maintenance buildings.

The role includes diagnosing complex problems, interpreting electrical diagrams, and supporting building automation systems, reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications

• Skilled in HVAC maintenance and repair across air handlers, rooftops, heat pumps, and related equipment.
• Able to diagnose complex mechanical, electrical, and control issues using diagrams and BAS data.
• Familiar with reading electrical schematics and following safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC equipment and related components.
• Diagnose performance issues and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
• Read electrical and control diagrams to support troubleshooting and repair.
• Use BAS to review alarms, conditions, and trends for preventive actions.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other trades during outages and repairs.
