Job summary

UG2 is seeking a Maintenance Technician I – HVAC to support state-of-the-art life science campus operations in Burlington, MA. This role is a key liaison for building owners, contributing to system design discussions and ensuring reliable mechanical and electrical performance.

The candidate will perform inspections, testing, repair, and preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment, pumps, and energy management systems. A collaborative team environment fosters growth and mentorship.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 3–5 years of related experience.
• Mechanical and electrical aptitude with large tonnage HVAC equipment.
• Building management system experience and controls troubleshooting.
• Ability to act as Lead Engineer when required.

Responsibilities

• Share knowledge with maintenance team to strengthen performance.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and trend facilities systems via the building management system.
• Troubleshoot HVAC equipment and controls to identify problems and perform repairs.
• Perform pump rebuilds and replacements to ensure HVAC/building operation.
• Foster contractor and vendor relationships.
• Inspect, adjust, and repair boilers, heating and cooling systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance per manuals and specifications.
• Provide initial response and triage for maintenance requests, focusing on HVAC.
• Operate and inspect Energy Management, Building Automation, and Fire Safety Systems.
• Carry out tours of mechanical spaces, roofs, and building grounds.
• Respond to service calls including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, carpentry, and painting tasks.
• Communicate status of work to owner or supervisor.
• Stay updated on safety codes through seminars and training.
• Support projects and prepare materials lists for ordering.
• Respond to emergencies and perform quick repairs.
• Maintain housekeeping in mechanical/electrical rooms.
• Assist other trades as needed and follow UG2 SOPs.
• On-call rotation for site emergencies.
