Elliot Services in Lexington, KY seeks a Lead HVAC Technician to provide technical leadership and hands-on expertise across commercial, residential, and healthcare facilities. You will oversee field operations, mentor technicians and apprentices, and ensure safety, quality and customer satisfaction on each project.

The role requires 5+ years of commercial HVAC experience, a Journeyman license, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to read blueprints.

Qualifications

• State Journeyman HVAC License required; Master HVAC License preferred where applicable.
• Minimum of 5 years of commercial HVAC installation, maintenance, and service experience.
• Proven experience leading HVAC technicians, apprentices, or field crews.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for commercial HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Ability to work independently and lead multiple projects simultaneously.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, controls, refrigeration, electrical components, and building automation systems.
• Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E, and HVAC safety best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, and specifications.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and leadership skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening.
• Must provide personal hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform HVAC installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, controls, refrigeration, and airflow issues.
• Inspect, test, and evaluate HVAC equipment, wiring, controls, ductwork, refrigerant systems, and related components.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and system performance evaluations to maximize equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, schematics, construction documents, and technical drawings.
• Lead field teams and coordinate daily work assignments to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
• Serve as the primary field contact for customers, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.
• Monitor project progress, labor utilization, material requirements, and overall job performance.
• Review completed work to ensure compliance with company standards, customer expectations, and applicable codes.
• Resolve technical issues and project challenges while maintaining productivity and quality.
• Mentor, train, and support HVAC technicians and apprentices.
• Promote technical skill development, safety awareness, and adherence to company procedures.
• Foster a positive team environment focused on accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA 70E requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, PPE standards, and company safety policies.
• Maintain a safe work environment by identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions.
• Complete required documentation including service reports, inspections, work orders, and equipment recommendations.
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional communication and problem-solving.
• Manage customer expectations and provide recommendations for equipment repairs, upgrades, and preventative maintenance solutions.
• Respond to emergency service requests and travel to customer sites as needed.
