Job summary

Bowie State University is seeking an HVAC Chief to lead a team of three or more mechanics and oversee maintenance, operation, and repair of large commercial and industrial HVAC systems up to 4,000 tons. Supervisory duties include training, scheduling, and performance evaluations in a critical facilities environment.

The role requires readiness to perform associated electrical, plumbing and safety tasks while ensuring optimal uptime and compliance with standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; supervisory experience not required for non-supervisory option.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, assigns, and coordinates maintenance work and installation services for HVAC activities.
• Supervises and trains workers; evaluates results and supports training and development.
• Inspects completed work for adherence to standards and prepares time, labor, and material estimates.
• Prepares requisitions and inspects equipment and parts on receipt for specifications.
• Generates reports reflecting daily operations and project status; ensures safety and readiness of tools and spaces.
• Assists higher level supervisors with scheduling, safety, and workplace standards.
