Job summary

University of Maryland's IBBR Plant seeks a skilled, non-supervisory but senior HVAC mechanic to perform routine maintenance and planned service on large central HVAC systems, including a 700 horsepower steam plant and 1450-ton cooling facilities, ensuring safe, reliable operation in a research lab environment.

You will coordinate repairs and work with subcontractors, lead multi-trades tasks as needed, and operate with strict adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Ten years progressively responsible experience in air conditioning, refrigeration, temperature control, steamfitting, stationary engineering, plumbing or heating trades.
• Two years of this experience must have included supervision of journey level mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and planned service on large HVAC systems (steam and cooling facilities).
• Coordinate repairs and facility renewal projects; supervise subcontractors as needed.
• Lead multi-trades tasks to ensure safe and dependable laboratory operations.
