Bowie State University is seeking an HVAC Chief to oversee a team of HVAC Mechanics, ensuring maintenance and operation of large, complex heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. You will manage projects, coordinate resources, and uphold safety standards across campus facilities.

The role includes supervising staff, preparing cost estimates, and ensuring timely completion of maintenance tasks for regional HVAC plants of up to 4,000 tons.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Non-supervisory option may not require supervisory experience.
• Experience with HVAC systems and maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Organizes, assigns, and coordinates maintenance work for HVAC Mechanics and other workers.
• Supervises and trains workers; evaluates performance and training needs.
• Performs duties of HVAC Mechanic III when needed.
• Prepares estimates of time, labor, and materials; compares costs to estimates.
• Prepares specifications for equipment, parts, and supplies; inspects deliveries.
• Generates daily operation and project status reports.
• Operates standard power and hand tools.
• Ensures safety and readiness of work areas and equipment.
• Assists higher level supervisors with scheduling and safety compliance.
