Job summary

Bowie State University seeks a Plant Superintendent to provide campus-wide oversight of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. You will manage operation, preventive maintenance, and work-order processes to ensure reliability, safety, and energy efficiency across HVAC plants, electrical distribution, and building automation.

Responsibilities include supervising technicians, coordinating MEP contracts, and supporting capital projects, budgeting, and systematic improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years managing industrial HVAC/MEP systems with degree; 12 years without degree.
• 5+ years direct oversight of building mechanical and infrastructure systems.
• Experience with preventive maintenance programs, CMMS, and contractor management.
• Maryland 1st Grade Stationary Engineer License preferred/required based on assignment.
• Journeyman License in HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing preferred.
• Valid Maryland Non-Commercial Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Oversees operation, maintenance, and reliability of campus MEP systems.
• Manages preventive maintenance programs and work orders in CMMS.
• Directs BAS controls contractors for energy efficiency and performance.
• Serves as primary manager for MEP-related service contracts.
• Supervises specialized mechanics, technicians, and contractors.
