Job summary

Trane Technologies is seeking a Senior Refrigeration Systems Engineer to lead the design and integration of refrigeration subsystems for Trane Commercial Water-to-Water HVAC products. You will model system performance, validate ideas in the lab, and collaborate with Compressor Engineering, Thermal Systems, Controls, Electrical, and Manufacturing to deliver robust heating and cooling solutions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Engineering with 6+ years of experience (Master’s preferred).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and at least 6 years of engineering work experience.
• Master's Degree in Engineering is a plus.
• Understand HVAC system functions: refrigeration, heat transfer, airflow and ventilation.
• Proficient in problem solving with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to apply heat transfer and fluid flow concepts for real world problem solving.
• Ability to apply data analytics tools to lab and factory performance data.
• Ability to condense information for engineering decisions and be coached by seniors.
• Design or application experience with HVAC products and data-driven decisions is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop refrigeration subsystems to meet performance goals, regulatory requirements, and cost targets.
• Apply engineering expertise to model chiller and heat pump performance.
• Lead and support system performance, reliability, and quality improvements.
• Support sales by providing performance selections and design modifications.
• Develop and execute product validation test plans to verify performance and compliance.
• Create and calibrate product performance models using test data.
