Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Systems Operator to ensure efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of critical facility mechanical systems, driving reliability and safety across the site.

The role focuses on operating HVAC systems, chilled water networks, SCADA monitoring, and proactive maintenance. Collaboration with maintenance teams and timely responses to alarms are essential to maintain optimal performance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 10 years of experience working on mechanical HVAC systems, with minimum 2 years monitoring and controlling major facility systems including chillers, air handlers, pumps, motors, and SCADA.
• Extensive knowledge of HVAC equipment, chilled water systems, and associated controls.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for complex mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with SCADA or similar system-monitoring platforms.
• Ability to read and interpret system blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor major mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water distribution, chillers, air handlers, pumps, and motors.
• Use SCADA or similar platforms to monitor performance and identify anomalies.
• Perform preventative maintenance, testing, adjusting, and calibration of system controls, sensors, and actuators.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot issues; respond promptly to alarms and emergencies to restore operation.
• Ensure safety protocols and building codes compliance; participate in safety audits.
• Maintain records and reports of operations, inspections, repairs, and performance metrics.
