Job summary

Bayer seeks a Sr Principal Engineer for HVAC/Refrigeration at its Berkeley site. You will lead technical initiatives across maintenance, reliability, and process improvements to ensure GMP compliance and optimal performance, while developing strong technical teams and collaborating across Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and Quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• Experience with HVAC and industrial refrigeration in regulated environments.
• Knowledge of GMP, OSHA, and environmental requirements.
• Experience coordinating contractors/vendors in field operations.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with CMMS platforms (SAP PM, Maximo) for maintenance data integrity.
• Ability to read P&IDs and mechanical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Serve as site technical authority for HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Lead reliability, compliance, and continuous improvement programs.
• Ensure GMP and regulatory compliance across facilities.
• Provide troubleshooting and corrective actions for failures.
• Develop and optimize preventive, predictive maintenance strategies.
• Maintain asset information in CMMS with accurate PM plans.
• Support qualification and environmental monitoring activities.
• Monitor performance and drive cost and energy efficiency improvements.
• Provide design review and oversight for capital projects.
