Job summary

Bayer in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Maintenance Specialist to coordinate field-based maintenance activities, oversee vendor work, and ensure safety, GMP compliance, and timely asset availability. You will develop preventive maintenance strategies, lead pre-job safety briefings, review work orders, and collaborate with maintenance, production, and engineering to improve reliability.

This role requires hands-on CMMS experience and strong cross-functional communication.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent certification in a technical field.
• 3+ years in maintenance/reliability in regulated environments.
• Experience coordinating contractor/vendor work in the field.
• Experience with CMMS (SAP PM, Maximo, Trims) for work orders.
• Understanding GMP, OSHA, and environmental requirements.
• Ability to read P&IDs, drawings, and manuals.
• Strong communication and cross-functional coordination.

Responsibilities

• Review work orders and permits to confirm readiness before execution.
• Coordinate equipment downtime, clearances, and parts at site.
• Lead pre-job safety briefings and verify permits and controls.
• Provide field oversight to ensure work follows plans and GMP standards.
• Act as liaison among craft, operations, and engineering; track status.
• Verify completion, close out permits and punch lists; return to service.
• Support continuous improvement and small maintenance projects.
• Assist with investigations and CAPA actions; document actions.
