Job summary

Walmart in Albuquerque, NM is seeking aSenior Technician in Facility Services (HVAC/Refrigeration) to oversee installation, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance of HVAC/R systems across commercial environments. You will mentor technicians, coordinate service calls, and ensure OSHA/EPA compliance while managing parts and vendor relations.

The role requires hands-on leadership, adherence to safety standards, and a willingness to support on-call needs and special projects across the region.

Qualifications

• Option 1: 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration.
• Option 2: 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
• Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling.
• Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman.
• 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years Walmart store experience.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
• Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years.
• Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years.
• No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
• No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.]
• Preferred qualifications include: Completion of a 2-year technical/vocational HVAC/R program, experience reading blueprints/schematics, use of hand/power tools and testing equipment, and Glycol/CO2 systems knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Oversees installation and commissioning of HVAC/R systems (ductwork, panels, pneumatics).
• Leads diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues across commercial/industrial systems.
• Implements and monitors preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce downtimes.
• Manages rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, and supermarket refrigeration units, ensuring optimal performance.
• Submits required maintenance logs and reports; enters notes in work orders with before/after photos.
