Job summary

AME Engineering in Downers Grove, IL is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical and plumbing design for a range of projects, from entertainment facilities to manufacturing plants. You will guide concepts through construction, ensure code compliance, and deliver permit-ready documents using Revit and AutoCAD, with collaboration across design and field teams.

Qualifications

• 7–20 years of mechanical and/or plumbing design experience.
• Experience using Revit and AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of codes, standards, and design principles for mechanical and plumbing systems.
• Ability to work on multiple projects at once.
• Comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the design process for mechanical and plumbing systems for a variety of building types.
• Guide and review the design from concept to turnover and operation.
• Apply knowledge of building codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Use ASHRAE approved calculation methods to perform load calculations.
• Coordinate with design and construction team to ensure the final deliverable meets the client criteria.
• Generate permit and construction documents using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
• Participate in project pursuits and conceptual design to assist in displaying the value of the design/build approach.
• Assist the project team during construction to review RFIs, submittals, and field challenges.
• Participate in the development of standards, procedures, and training programs.
