Job summary

Johnson Controls seeks a Senior Electrical Designer to drive engineering and order processing for HVAC products. This onsite role at our Largo, FL facility requires coordinating design from concept through delivery, owning part selection and driving improvements for manufacturability and quality.

The ideal candidate has an associate degree in electrical engineering/technology, understands Ohm’s law, and can interpret datasheets and CAD drawings.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in electrical engineering/technology or equivalent trade school certificate.
• Clear understanding of Ohm’s law and standard electrical calculations.
• Ability to obtain and interpret datasheets for electrical and control components.
• Abilitydetermineelectrical wiring requirements.
• Design formanufacturabilityconcept knowledge and application with emphasis on electrical wiring.
• Electrical schematic design usingCAD software.
• Electrical component/panel layout using CAD.
• Bill of material structures and databases.
• Engineering change management.
• Manufacturing electrical support.

Responsibilities

• Provides design and order processing support for standard and customized HVAC orders from concept through delivery.
• Owns design and part selection of multiple Johnson Controls products as subject matter expert.
• Implements design improvements to optimize manufacturability and product quality.
• Defines and interprets electrical wiring and control requirements for products.
• Performs prototype building and evaluation; calculates product cost with corporate standards.
• Supports product launches with field installation evaluation.
• Collaborates with production to build prototype and mockup products.
