Job summary

Johnson Controls in Largo, FL seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to drive mechanical analysis, detailed design, and subsystem integration for HVAC equipment. You will lead sheet metal design, enclosure structures, and airflow pathways while collaborating across electrical, controls, test labs and manufacturing teams to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective products.

The role is onsite in Largo, with relocation support as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5+ years in product development.
• Minimum 5+ years of 3D CAD experience and sheet-metal assemblies design.
• HVAC industry experience preferred and beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical analysis and detailed design for HVAC subsystems (AHUs/FCUs/BCUs).
• Lead integration of sheet metal, enclosure structures, and fans with airflow paths.
• Ensure designs meet safety, regulatory and DFMEA requirements.
• Collaborate with test labs, compliance, sourcing, and manufacturing teams.
