Job summary

The College of Southern Maryland is seeking an HVAC Maintenance Specialist to support the operation of heating, ventilation, and cooling systems across campus facilities. The role includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination with contractors to ensure reliable building performance.

You will monitor BAS, troubleshoot electrical and mechanical components, and assist with BAS programming and energy efficiency projects.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Three years of progress ive experience in commercial or institutional HVAC maintenance.
• Completion of a recognized HVAC trade program (apprenticeship or equivalent).
• EPA Section 608 certification (CFC) license.
• Valid driver's license if operating college vehicles.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and control diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Perform 25% preventive maintenance on HVAC and building systems.
• Diagnose and repair HVAC issues and coordinate with contractors.
• Monitor BAS and adjust controls as needed.
• Operate central plant equipment and support energy efficiency initiatives.
• Respond to emergencies and document work performed.
