Job summary

Union County is seeking a skilled Maintenance III / HVAC Technician to join our Facilities team to install, repair, and maintain HVAC systems, perform preventive maintenance, and handle plumbing, carpentry, and electrical tasks across county buildings.

The role emphasizes diagnostic work, calibration of controls, and thorough documentation of work orders, with a requirement for EPA certification and Tracer Summit operations knowledge.

Qualifications

• Trade-school or technical training in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or carpentry.
• Experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or building maintenance.
• Three years of combined education/training/experience considered.
• Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License.
• Universal EPA Certification.
• Tracer Summit System Operations certification or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain HVAC systems and equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical malfunctions and complete necessary repairs.
• Calibrate thermostatic controls and replace filters and components as needed.
• Perform plumbing repairs and maintenance, including troubleshooting and repairing leaks, fixtures, and water systems.
• Complete carpentry projects such as door and window repairs, drywall repair, and hardware installation.
• Perform electrical maintenance and repair of motors, pumps, switches, controllers, and related equipment.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and assigned vehicles.
• Complete work orders, maintenance records, and related documentation.
• Assist with grounds maintenance, deliveries, and other facility-related duties as assigned.
