Job summary

EMCOR Services Mesa Energy is seeking a Senior Estimator to support the sales team during preconstruction, design-build scope development, budgeting, and proposal preparation for HVAC retrofit projects.

You will review documents, prepare final estimates, and guide cost analyses ensuring accuracy before proposals, while coordinating with account managers, engineers, and vendors. Strong communication and leadership are essential in this team-driven environment.

Qualifications

Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent experience.
10+ years of estimating, engineering, construction management, or business management experience.
4+ years’ experience with HVAC design and building construction.
Knowledge of RFQ & RFP process for budgeting and bidding of retrofit projects.
Thorough knowledge of mechanical retrofitting of commercial buildings, hospitals, data centers, K-14, and universities.
Knowledge of materials, methods, and tools involved in mechanical retrofit of commercial buildings.
Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, direct, and control all aspects of the bidding process.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word.
Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.

Responsibilities

Actively gather information for estimating jobs by talking with the account manager, end user, engineering team, estimating team, vendors, and others.
Interpret field conditions to determine project direction and provide costs for large retrofit projects without drawings.
Submit proposals, scopes of work, project scheduling, engineering solutions that comply with regulatory agencies, and estimating, including conceptual estimates and RFQ/RFP processes.
Generate sales proposals and Excel spreadsheets that are complete and accurate for the proposed project and comply with Title 24.
Perform constructability and code compliance reviews and document risks.
Understand and apply the California Mechanical Code and local municipal codes.
Compile detailed lists of qualifications, clarifications, and exclusions for client budget communication.
Prepare accurate replacement equipment lists, sheet metal, piping, and labor estimates.
Obtain scopes of work and pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
Assist with pricing change orders.
