Job summary

Jacobs is seeking an HV Underground Transmission Engineer to lead and support projects across North America, focusing on high voltage cabling systems (69kV and above) and related design work. You will collaborate with global experts, contribute to proposals, and support ongoing projects with utilities and renewable developers.

The role requires 8+ years in underground/subsea cable design, knowledge of IEC/IEEE/CIGRE, and ability to travel within North America.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil, Mechanical or related engineering discipline; Master’s preferred.
Minimum 8 years of direct experience with underground and/or subsea cable design and installation.
Experience with cable design software such as CYMCAP; knowledge of IEC/IEEE/CIGRE standards.

Responsibilities

Develop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, concept/detailed design and design review, estimation, site supervision and support as required.
Provide technical support to the team on all aspects of HV cable system engineering and design.
Prepare specifications, power cable route specifications, and reports and progress reports.
Attend and conduct meetings with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors; support FAT/SAT tests.
Perform electrical/mechanical calculations and design verifications; ensure drawings/specifications have complete information.
