Job summary

The Global Edge Consultants LLC in Reading, PA is seeking an experienced Transmission Line Designer / Senior Electrical Drafter to lead drafting and design of high-voltage transmission line systems, from 34.5 kV to 230 kV. The role collaborates across civil, structural, electrical, and substation teams with occasional field walkdowns.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive design and drafting experience focused on high-voltage transmission lines.
• Associate Degree or Diploma in Electrical Design, CAD, or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience.
• Strong knowledge of electrical codes, utility standards, and structural guidelines (NESC, IEEE, ANSI, ASCE-7, AISC, IBC).
• Willingness and ability to travel to job sites for site walkdowns and inspections.

Responsibilities

• Prepare scaled design drawings and complete drawing packages for overhead transmission line projects.
• Design and analyze structures for 34.5 kV to 230 kV transmission lines.
• Mentor and review drawings produced by junior staff.
• Create and review BOMs, conduit layouts, and cable schedules.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, and substation teams.
• Develop layouts from scratch or by package and manage multiple projects.
• Perform QA checks on drawings following industry standards and document control.
• Conduct field site walkdowns and data verification as needed.
