Job summary

RigUp, Inc. is seeking an experienced Transmission Line Designer to join the Power Networks team in Reading. You will apply electrical design and drafting expertise to produce high-quality, timely deliverables for transmission line projects under the guidance of the lead engineer.

You will mentor drafting staff, manage project assignments, and ensure compliance with codes and client standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams and vendors. Travel to sites for walkdowns is required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or diploma in electrical design/drafting or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years transmission/electrical design experience.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and regulatory practices.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and MicroStation incl. scaled drawings.
• Experience with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE software.
• Ability to interpret and apply client CAD standards.
• Familiarity with NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE-7, AISC, ACI 318.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare scaled physical drawings for transmission line projects with minimal supervision.
• Develop design drawing packages for quality review and check packages by others.
• Design transmission lines in 34.5kV to 230kV range.
• Perform structural analysis for pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
• Lead project assignments and guide design staff on drawing packages.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary drawing sets with other engineering disciplines.
• Generate and evaluate bills of material, conduit and cable schedules.
• Follow lead engineer specifications in project drafting tasks.
• Work independently to conceptualize project layouts from references.
• Deliver accurate, compliant design documents per standards.
• Travel to project sites for walkdowns as required.
• Ensure QA across documentation per drawing standards and controls.
• Complete deliverables per procedures, standards, milestones, budgets.
