Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Senior Substation Physical Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to guide HV substation design and lead a growing team within our Power and Energy practice. You will serve as technical authority, mentor staff, and drive project delivery from planning through startup across multiple offices.

The role emphasizes leadership, client service, and development of engineering standards, with travel to various U.S. locations as needed.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
Professional Engineer (PE) license.
15 years of related experience.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
Experience leading regional or multi-office engineering teams.
Experience delivering HV substation projects 13.8kV to 345kV.
Experience serving as Engineer of Record (EOR).
Strong grounding and protection & control knowledge.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, execution, and delivery of HV substation projects ranging from 230kV to 345kV.
Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and technical authority for substation physical design.
Review and approve engineering deliverables, studies, and calculations.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for integrated project delivery from planning to startup.
Drive technical excellence through reviews, standards development, and continuous improvement.
