Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a Senior Substation Physical Engineer to provide technical and organizational leadership within our Power and Energy practice. This role focuses on HV substation design and leading a team of engineers across projects from planning through startup.

The candidate will serve as the Engineer of Record for substation physical design, mentor staff, support business growth, and ensure quality and client service while delivering world-class solutions.

Qualifications

• 15 years of related experience.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and delivery of HV substation projects ranging from 230kV to 345kV.
• Serve as Engineer of Record for substation physical design, including AIS/GIS substations and station service systems.
• Review and approve engineering deliverables and studies to ensure compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated project delivery from planning and design through construction, commissioning, and startup.
• Drive technical excellence through standards development and continuous improvement.
