Job summary

WSP Global Inc. is seeking a High Voltage Substation Inspector to support field inspections around Reno/Las Vegas, NV.

The role involves traveling up to 100% of projects, coordinating with engineers and project managers, and producing concise documentation to meet design and safety standards. You will use survey tools, review plans and specifications, and guide junior staff while ensuring quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 9 years of relevant post-education inspection experience disclosed in the job ad.
• Active field experience of 5+ years with report writing and documentation.
• Valid state driver's license and ability to travel extensively.
• Solid knowledge of construction inspection practices, codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Strong analytical mindset and sound judgment for complex inspection decisions.
• Excellent interpersonal and written communication for technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Collect, compile, and analyze data from the work site and designs for inspection activities.
• Perform inspections using survey instruments and test equipment to verify conformance with plans and permits.
• Lead inspection tasks and mentor junior staff, coordinating with project teams.
• Attend pre-construction meetings and respond to contractor questions.
• Prepare inspection plans, schedules, and staffing/equipment usage data.
• Write technical inspection reports with photos, calculations, and drawings.
• Coordinate with clients and contractors to schedule inspections and resolve issues.
• Travel up to project locations and stay for extended periods as needed.
