Job summary

WSP Global Inc. seeks a High Voltage Substation Inspector to support engineers and project managers in field inspections, ensuring construction compliance with plans, specs, and codified requirements.

The role involves data collection, documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams on projects in the Reno/Las Vegas area. You will perform inspections, generate reports, assist with risk assessment, and help prepare inspection plans.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; demonstrated equivalent experience.
• 9 years of relevant post-education experience in a discipline with prior construction inspection experience.
• 5+ years of active field experience with ability to fill out reports and document with Word/Excel.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Knowledge of construction inspection principles, practices, codes, regulations, and record-keeping.
• Analytical mindset with sound judgement.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Self-leadership with attention to detail and multi-tasking.
• Ability to work independently or in a team; travel up to 6 weeks per project.
• Willingness to work in extreme weather and wear PPE.

Responsibilities

• Inspect projects to ensure conformity with plans, specs, contracts, and codified requirements.
• Generate accurate and concise documentation of inspection aspects.
• Perform field inspections on moderate-scale projects; ensure quality and safety standards.
• Lead inspection tasks or staff when needed; attend pre-construction meetings.
• Assist with risk identification and project coordination; provide input and escalation.
• Prepare inspection plans and coordinate field/site work; review staffing and equipment use.
• Provide guidance and training to entry-level inspection staff.
• Coordinate with client and contractor personnel for scheduling and inspections.
• Write technical reports; summarize findings with photos, drawings, and calculations.
• Travel as required based on project location; uphold safety policies and company code.
