Job summary

WSP is seeking a High Voltage Substation Inspector to support engineers and project managers in Austin, TX, with travel across the region. You will perform field inspections on moderate-scale projects, generate accurate documentation, and ensure adherence to plans, codes, and permits.

The role involves data collection, use of survey tools and meters, coordinating inspection activities, and training entry-level staff. Expect long hours and extensive travel as projects require.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; 9+ years relevant post-education field inspection experience.
• 5+ years active field experience with report writing and photo documentation.
• Valid state driver’s license; ability to travel up to 6 weeks on project.
• Knowledge of construction inspection principles, codes, safety policies.
• Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.
• Able to lift 50 lbs, work 12-hour days, endure extreme weather.

Responsibilities

• Collect data from site and plans to verify conformance with specs.
• Use surveying and metering devices to inspect projects.
• Prepare inspection plans and coordinate field work.
• Write technical inspection reports with photos and drawings.
• Provide guidance to junior staff and coordinate with clients.
• Travel as required by project location.
