Job summary

CDM Smith seeks a Senior Substation Physical Engineer | Regional Technical Leader to guide HV substation design and lead a growing team of engineers. You will act as the technical authority for physical design, oversee complex projects, mentor staff, and support business growth across multiple offices.

The role requires a PE license, 15 years of related experience, and willingness to travel domestically or internationally.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or related discipline.
Professional Engineering (PE) license.
15 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Lead design, execution, and delivery of HV substation projects from 230kV to 345kV.
Serve as Engineer of Record (EOR) and technical authority for substation physical design.
Review and approve engineering deliverables, studies, and calculations for client requirements and standards.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to support integrated project delivery from planning through startup.
Drive quality reviews, standards development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Mentor engineers and designers to support technical excellence and career growth.
Manage team utilization, staffing, and direct labor aligned with budgets and profitability.
Support business development, proposals, and client relationship management.
