Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a dynamic Senior Substation Engineer to oversee HV substation design and EPC activities for renewable projects across the Eastern United States. You will ensure designs meet interconnection requirements and reliability standards, and coordinate with utilities and EPCs to support construction and commissioning.

The role emphasizes leadership, strong communication, and a solid background in power systems, with travel to project sites and collaboration across a broad team.

Qualifications

• BS Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Power Systems.
• 7+ years of substation design experience (Physical or P&C).
• 2+ years of HV project engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee EPC contractor engineering design and construction for HV substations and lines (35kV–500kV).
• Review Substation EPC designs for interconnection requirements and standards.
• Coordinate with interconnection providers and utilities during design and testing.
• Lead technical discussions with HV EPCs, utilities, and internal stakeholders.
• Travel and fieldwork ~25%, primarily in Eastern/Central US.
