Job summary

Vertiv is seeking a Field Engineer - Electrical Testing (NETA III/IV) to perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems up to 500kV. You will conduct power studies, test protective relays, and prepare detailed engineering reports for project teams.

Travel up to 75% regionally and nationally is required. A current NETA certification plus 7+ years of hands-on HV testing are expected.

Qualifications

• NETA Level III/IV certification in good standing
• 7+ years of hands-on electrical testing in medium/high voltage environments
• Knowledge of NETA MTS/ATS standards
• Proficiency with test equipment (Doble, Megger, Omicron, Dranetz, SKF)
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 75%

Responsibilities

• Perform acceptance, commissioning, and maintenance testing on electrical power systems and equipment up to 500kV
• Conduct power system studies including short circuit, coordination, arc flash, and power quality analysis
• Test and calibrate protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, microprocessor-based)
• Perform insulation resistance, power factor, and contact resistance testing on transformers, switchgear, cables, and circuit breakers
• Interpret and analyze test results; author comprehensive engineering reports with findings and recommendations
• Troubleshoot complex electrical system failures under time-critical conditions
• Mentor and train Level I/II technicians in the field
• Serve as technical lead on multi-discipline project teams
• Maintain compliance with NETA MTS/ATS standards, NFPA 70E, and OSHA safety requirements
