Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead testing, commissioning, and energization for utility-scale HV substations, BESS, and PV facilities. The role includes approximately 20–30% travel and active participation in field operations.

You will serve as the senior technical authority, oversee complex commissioning deliverables, mentor engineers, and ensure safety and compliance with applicable standards throughout project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 10+ years of experience in testing, commissioning, and energization of HV substations, BESS, and PV facilities.
• 5+ years leading commissioning/energization on complex utility-scale projects.
• 2+ years of engineering leadership or supervisory experience.
• PE license or ability to obtain; NETA Certification.

Responsibilities

• Attend Owner, Utility, and stakeholder meetings as requested by the Commissioning Manager (PM).
• Develop Testing & Commissioning (T&C) Plans aligned with project specifications and industry standards.
• Develop and execute Initial Energization Procedures for HV substations, BESS, and PV power collection systems.
• Serve as the engineering authority for complex commissioning issues.
• Review protection philosophies, relay settings, and commissioning strategies for readiness and safety.
• Lead and coordinate HV switching operations for initial energization.
• Review and approve commissioning reports and closeout documentation.
• Provide post-energization support and field troubleshooting.
