Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead testing, commissioning, and energization for utility-scale HV substations, BESS, and PV facilities. The role involves ~20–30% travel and serves as the senior technical authority across projects, mentoring commissioning staff and ensuring safety and compliance.

Remote work is available with location details discussed in interviews. The candidate will collaborate with Owners, Utilities, OEMs, and Field Services to deliver engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 10 years in testing, commissioning, energization of HV substations, BESS, PV facilities.
• 5+ years leading commissioning/energization on complex utility-scale projects.
• PE license or ability to obtain is required.
• Experience with protection systems, relay testing, harmonic analysis, and interconnection requirements.

Responsibilities

• Attend owner, utility, and stakeholder meetings as requested.
• Develop T&C Plans aligned with project specs and interconnection requirements.
• Develop and execute Initial Energization Procedures for HV substations, BESS, and PV systems.
• Serve as engineering authority for complex commissioning issues.
• Review protection philosophies, relay settings, and energization strategies.
• Lead and coordinate substation energization activities and field operations.
• Perform high voltage switching operations for energization and commissioning.
• Review and approve commissioning reports and test documentation; issue non-conformances and close out actions.
• Provide post-energization technical support and on-call assistance.
