Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead testing, commissioning, and energization for utility-scale HV substations, BESS, and PV facilities. This fully remote role involves travel 20–30% and collaboration with Owners, Utilities, and OEMs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
• Minimum 10 years in testing, commissioning, energization of HV substations, BESS or PV facilities.
• Minimum 5 years leading or acting as primary technical engineer for commissioning on complex projects.
• Minimum 5 years performing high-voltage switching operations and supporting energized systems.
• 2+ years of engineering leadership or supervisory experience.
• Expertise in power system protection, control, relay testing, harmonic analysis, and interconnection requirements.
• Ability to resolve complex issues with engineering judgment and to mentor staff.

Responsibilities

• Attend meetings with Owners, Utilities, and stakeholders as requested.
• Develop T&C Plans aligned with project specs and interconnection requirements.
• Create and review Initial Energization Procedures for HV substations, BESS, PV systems.
• Review protection philosophies, relay settings, and commissioning strategies for readiness.
• Lead HV switching operations and supervise commissioning activities on site.
• Approve commissioning reports and conduct post-energization support and testing.
• Document root causes and drive corrective actions to closure.
