Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior HV CAD Designer to support high voltage substation and transmission design, with some PV and BESS land development work. The role is hybrid and can be located anywhere in the US, with up to 10% travel.

The candidate will develop CAD packages, review external designs, and maintain CAD standards while collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher with CAD emphasis.
• Minimum 5 years drafting/design experience, including HV substation/transmission CAD design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam.
• General knowledge of electrical systems and HV substations.
• Support PV and BESS land development design tasks.
• Strong communication and leadership potential.

Responsibilities

• Develop up to 30% substation packages in AutoCAD/Bluebeam for 35kV–500kV facilities.
• Create technical exhibits for transmission structure designs and ROWs.
• Support PV and BESS land development with site plans and diagrams.
• Collaborate with engineers, land, permitting, and project teams across renewables.
• Maintain CAD standards, templates, and symbol libraries.
