Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a High Voltage Engineer to oversee substation and transmission design for renewable projects across the United States, with a focus on the Western portfolio. The role emphasizes ownership of HV designs, coordination with EPCs, and ensuring interconnection readiness.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years (non-senior) or 7+ years (senior) in HV design, strong leadership, and willingness to travel up to 25% for field verification and commissioning.

Qualifications

• HV substation or transmission design experience.
• Ability to coordinate with EPCs, utilities, and internal stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of grid integration for renewables.

Responsibilities

• Oversee HV EPC design and construction activities for HV substations and lines (35kV–500kV).
• Coordinate with interconnection providers and utilities.
• Review designs for interconnection compliance and standards.
• Support testing during commissioning.
• Lead technical discussions with EPCs and internal teams.
