Job summary

AES Corporation in the United States is seeking a Senior HV CAD Designer to join the High Voltage Engineering team. The role focuses on high voltage substation and transmission design while supporting PV and BESS land development.

This hybrid position offers collaboration across internal teams and travel up to 10%. Ideal candidates have 5+ years of drafting experience, proficiency with AutoCAD and Bluebeam, and a solid understanding of HV equipment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in CAD, Drafting, or related engineering field.
• Minimum 5 years of drafting/design experience including HV substation or transmission CAD design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Office; knowledge of HV equipment.
• Familiarity with HV substation components.
• Ability to coordinate across internal and external teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop up to 30% substation packages in AutoCAD/Bluebeam for 35kV–500kV facilities.
• Create technical exhibits for transmission line engineering.
• Support PV and BESS land development design tasks.
• Collaborate with project engineers, land, permitting, and management teams.
• Develop CAD standards, templates, and symbol libraries.
• Generate BOMs accompanying design packages.
• Review external substation designs for compliance with AES standards.
