Job summary

AES Corporation is seeking a Senior HV CAD Designer to support high voltage substation and transmission CAD work, with about 75% of duties in HV design and 25% in PV/BESS development. This hybrid role emphasizes collaboration with engineers, real estate, and permitting teams across projects up to 500 kV.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years’ drafting experience, HV knowledge, and proficiency in AutoCAD and Bluebeam, plus a drive to lead design discussions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in CAD, drafting, or engineering.
• Minimum 5 years drafting/design experience, including HV substation work.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Office, and related tools.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, HV substations, and code considerations.
• Ability to support PV and BESS development tasks.

Responsibilities

• Develop up to 30% substation packages in AutoCAD/Bluebeam for 35kV–500kV projects.
• Draft transmission line exhibits and ROW concepts for proposals.
• Support PV and BESS land development with site layouts and diagrams.
• Collaborate with HV engineers, land, permitting, and project teams.
• Maintain CAD standards, templates, and symbol databases.
• Review external substation designs for safety and compliance.
