Overview
The Senior Human Resources Manager - Employee Relations serves as a partner and trusted advisor to Xeris employees. This position fosters positive employee relations, manages workplace issues, and ensures compliance with Xeris policies and employment laws while balancing employee advocacy and business considerations.
Responsibilities
- Leverages extensive knowledge of and experience in employee relations to advise and guide Xeris employees on a wide variety of employee relations matters that include performance concerns and related work improvement, interpersonal conflict, team effectiveness, and compliance/policy violations.
- Promotes a positive and inclusive work environment by fostering employee engagement and addressing concerns proactively.
- Investigates and resolves employee complaints, workplace conflicts, policy and compliance violations in an equitable and consistent manner.
- Develops, implements, and updates employee relations policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and company processes and procedures.
- Partners with internal counsel to manage complex employee relations matters to include investigations and recommends remediation plans. Ensures appropriate documentation of employee relations concerns from intake through resolution.
- Supports workforce planning and performance management processes to ensure consistency and timeliness across the company.
- Manages employee off-boarding to include exit interviews and internal notifications.
- Provides guidance and support to managers on performance management issues, including performance reviews and ratings, goal setting, and development plans.
- Collaborates with other members of the HR team to ensure actions are in alignment with HR practices, precedent, and policies and ensures HR stakeholders are informed timely of matters that impact the team.
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of employment laws to reduce legal risks and ensure compliance.
- Participates in other initiatives and/or activities as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree is a plus.
- Human Resources certification preferred.
- At least 7 years of progressive HR generalist/employee relations experience required.
- Prior experience in human resources at a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company is a plus.
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment law and related application.
- Excellent computer skills required including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated ability to understand complex employee relations issues and identify compliant outcomes that balance employee advocacy and business considerations.
- Compliance with all relevant Xeris policies, procedures, and processes.

- Working Conditions: Position may require periodic evening and weekend work, as necessary to fulfill obligations. Periodic overnight travel. This is a hybrid position located at the Xeris headquarter office in Chicago. A minimum of three days per week in the office is required. On-site requirement may change at management’s discretion.
