Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Principal Human Factors Engineer for on‑site work in Rancho Bernardo, CA, with potential support from El Segundo or Palmdale. You will lead user‑centered design activities and ensure alignment with military standards and system requirements.

You will plan and conduct UX evaluations, contribute to extensive HFE documentation, and collaborate with IPTs to address program needs while maintaining performance and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5 years of experience OR Master’s degree and 3 years of experience OR PhD and 1 year of experience.
• Experience with MIL-STD-1472, human factor surveys, test procedures, and test reports.
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment with attention to detail and effective communication.

Responsabilités

• Verify UX requirements through evaluations, tests, and demonstrations.
• Evaluate requirements against Human Factors best practices and MIL-STD-1472 sections.
• Contribute to Human Factors analyses including task analyses and usability studies.
• Plan and conduct user-centered design events such as Design Thinking Workshops and Operator-in-the-Loop evaluations.
• Document HFE processes and products per US Military Data item descriptions.
• Collaborate with Design IPTs to ensure design meets program needs and HFE standards.
• Analyze proposed workarounds for operator impact and acceptability.
• Support Airworthiness analysis, artifact development, and compliance summaries.
