Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Principal Human Factors Engineer to join our Systems Engineering team at Rancho Bernardo, CA, with option to support from El Segundo or Palmdale.

You will lead user-centered design, conduct UX evaluations, and develop HFE documentation to meet military standards while collaborating with design IPTs and supporting airworthiness analyses.

Qualifications

• BS + 5 years in Human Factors or MS + 3 years or PhD + 1 year in related field.
• Experience with MIL-STD-1472, surveys, test procedures, and/or test report writing.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment; action oriented; detail-focused; communicates effectively.
• Active USG Top Secret clearance (or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).
• Ability to obtain SAP access (PAR) prior to employment and during tenure.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute UX requirement evaluations, tests, and demonstrations.
• Evaluate requirements per Human Factors best practices and MIL-STD-1472.
• Contribute to Human Factors analyses (task analyses, predictive workload, usability studies).
• Lead user-centered design events (Design Thinking Workshops, Operator-in-the-Loop evaluations).
• Document HFE processes and products per Military Data Item Descriptions.
• Collaborate with Design IPTs to meet program needs and HFE requirements.
• Assess proposed workarounds from an operator perspective; provide analysis.
• Support Airworthiness analysis and artifact development.
